Lot 2019 FABULOUS CUSTOM U.S. MODEL OF 1917 .550 EXPRESS
BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 550 EXP. S# 490726. Bbl. 25 7/8". Originally mfg. as a U.S. Model of 1917 rifle, this example was later modified into a quality custom sporting rifle chambered in .550 Express. The left side of the custom tapered rnd. Pac-Nor bbl. is marked with the cal. designation "550 EXPRESS" towards the breech. Original U.S. arsenal markings have been removed over the chamber, with the rear sight and distinctive rear sight "ears" having been removed. S# "490726" is marked on the right side of the chamber. Underside of bolt stop housing is stamped "NS" (or "SN"). Metal components exhibit a professionally applied blue finish overall, with the receiver having acquired a plum coloration. Bolt body, bolt stop housing spring, and custom flat follower are polished in-the-white. Trigger and bolt cocking piece exhibit a case colored finish. Beautiful 1-piece custom glossy finished high grade Turkish walnut stock features a skip line checkered wrap around panel on the forearm, skip line checkered panels on either side of the wrist, an ebony tipped forearm, ebony capped dual cross bolts, rounded ebony grip cap, left handed cheekpiece, as well as a textured black rubber Decelerator recoil pad. Toeline of butt features an inletted sling swivel stud, with the bbl. featuring an integral band mounted sling swivel stud. Banded, ramped, hooded, and brass beaded blade front sight with NECG Express 4-leaf (1 fixed, 3 folding) dovetailed rear sight on island base. Receiver bridge has been drilled and tapped with 2 plug screws. Cock on open action with BreaKO recoil reducer and custom trigger marked "ENG" on the left side of the housing. All serialized parts are matching and include the receiver (right side of chamber and on right side below wood line), custom blued steel mag. well housing, as well as the bolt. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining virtually all of their professionally applied finishes overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting some grease along the edges of the lands, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock is excellent, showing few minute superficial handling marks. An extremely attractive and high quality custom U.S. Model of 1917 rifle chambered in .550 Express.
